The Orange Tree Courtyard

Royal Wind Music 2024

Performed on an impressive consort of renaissance recorders, this evocative programme brings to life the rich musical tapestry of Spain’s Golden Age. From the sacred choral textures of Francisco de Peñalosa and Cristóbal de Morales to the lively secular songs of Juan Vásquez and Alonso de Mudarra, 'The Orange Tree Courtyard' transports the listener to the grandeur of Seville’s Cathedral and its ancient Patio de los Naranjos. Playing entirely from memory, this acclaimed ensemble weaves intricate polyphony with mesmerising precision, capturing the splendour of 16th-century Spain in an unforgettable performance.
